Thanks for a successful 2011!

Photos from the 2011 Tour

Thank you SO MUCH to all of you for coming out and making the tour a success. We hope you enjoyed your time doing the Funky Chicken - Coop Tour :)

Our numbers went up significantly around the city. The Information Center had over double the visitors of last year. You can see how busy it was at The Information Center in this photo by Marc Opperman. The trends at the coops in the same geographic regions as last year's coops show anywhere from double to over triple the number of visitors. We're so happy to see people wanting to learn more about raising urban chickens! We thank our lovely coop hosts and their chickens for their hospitality.

Congratulations to Logan McBride for winning the mobile coop from Mobile Chicken Coops at our Information Center raffle. We also would like to congratulate all the lucky winners on their great prizes from the raffle benefiting The Sustainable Food Center. And here's to our sponsors for all the generous donations to make the tour possible!

If you have any photos you would like to share, contact us and let us know, or share them on our Facebook page.

Thanks for a wonderful 2011 tour. See you in 2012!

I personally only made it to half the coops on the tour, I would like to see a 2 day event, maybe south side on Sat. North side on Sunday, or East then West...I had such a great time, just wish I could have seen more.

We're so glad you enjoyed the tour! We've worked very hard to ensure that the tour includes a variety of coops all over town, so that folks have the chance to see the sort of coops that they're interested in or the coops in their own area. We'd consider a two-day tour, but we'd need for a number of things to fall into place first: we'd need more sponsors, many more volunteers and a lot more people to work on organizing the tour, starting at least six months in advance. We'd also probably have to think about charging visitors, in order to cover the additional costs of a two-day tour. We'd also have to persuade coop owners to open their backyards for two days in a row. Right now, those things aren't in the foreseeable future, so we'll be sticking with a one-day tour. Thanks for your feedback
