If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, it might be the SUPER GRAND CHAMPION of CROSSROADS!
WATERFOWL!!! This year the SUPER GRAND CHAMPION of 10,275 birds was a Black Muscovy Old Male entered by Danny Padgett of Butler Florida. He won Best Heavy Duck, Champion and Reserve Champion Waterfowl, and after all the Grand Champions, including poultry and waterfowl were identified, it was his beautiful Black Muscovy Duck which was awarded the SUPER Grand Champion of the entire show.
What wonderful recognition for his beautiful birds! You can check out the blog for photos of his winning entry. I've got musgovies on the pond, but have never seen a black musgovy, and he sure is pretty!
Also, this was a QUALIFYING meet for the BLUE FAWN variety of the CALL DUCK BREED. And we do have confirmation from Crossroads that the BLUE FAWN CALL DUCK was recommended and officially accepted this weekend by the APA and the ABA as a recognized variety of the breed. Congratulations to all the devoted breeders who have worked a minimum of 5 years on this variety to get it recognized and accepted.
