We had a wonderful time today on the tour. We visited 9 spots. We truly appreciated the folks that offered water as the temperature started rising. The only thing I would like to see next time would be bigger and/or bolder signs. Some of them were difficult to spot. Can't wait until next year's tour!!
Dan and Amy :)
Dan,
So glad to heard you enjoyed your day. That's what it's all about :)
Thanks so much for your feedback. We didn't have any signs last year, so we tried to find a consistent yard sign to display for 2010. We'll think about ways to make it more prominent for 2011.
Enjoy your Easter weekend!
The Funky Chicken Coopies, 2010
I only had time to see 4 coops this year but I got a whole lot of inspiration for my coop and saw some chicken breeds I'd never seen before. In the next few months I hope to have my own Funky Chicken Coop and a funky flock of hens to go with it.
Thanks for putting together a great event!! Can't wait for next year's tour.
Grace
Thanks so much for putting on this event! We had a great time and were really surprised how many others had the same interest. Everything was well organized and we really liked the videos online so that we could preview each of the coops. We would like to see some coops of just 2-3 chickens next year since this is the size of flock that we are thinking about to start off. Thanks so much!
Super cool event! Egg selent!
It was fantastic. We visited three coops and went to Buck Moore's. Please thank all the coop owners who opened up their backyards. My daughter, also, appreciated the lemonade at the Wynona coop. That was so thoughtful of the owners, even though we should have brought our own water. It was really warm, yesterday, and we were caught by surprise. I'm sure your t-shirt booth folks have already told you this, but by 1:00 they only had Large left and that wasn't the sizes we needed. A few more Adult Small and Adult XLarge, please, for next year. Thanks so much for all your hard work. It was a wonderful day.
Thanks everyone for coming out! It was wonderful to see how many people were interested in chicken keeping! We were so happy to see the turnout!
As a coop owner the only problem I had was not being able to go see the other coops on the tour!
My husband & I really enjoyed ourselves. We ran out of time & saw the places grouped together in the north & east. I'm esp. sorry I didn't get out to the Permaculture location, & hope to see that sometime in the future. So many good ideas & lovely people, thank you all!
I worked the info booth and had a lovely time. Very well organized. I did not make it to any of the coops, but got amazing feedback from those who did.
I did hear from one or two people about the number of folks who brought dogs. Possibly increase info in PSAs and other outlets about how dogs think chickens are super-yummy?
Looking forward to the 3rd annual coop tour.
Our family really enjoyed biking part of the tour! What a great community-building event. I posted pictures and a description on my own blog here:

Thanks, all, for the great feedback! We are always looking for ways to be better for the next tour, so we appreciate the thoughts. We are also really happy you enjoyed the tour!
I would love to see more photos of coop number 5 if anyone has any. The ones that I took didnt turn out for some reason. I plan to build my coop like this, only bigger, for 20 or so chickens. You can email them to me if you like. My email is: nihil.obstat@yahoo.com
Thanks so much! :)
Oh, yea, we had a wonderful day too. I just love that this event is free and all volunteer and runs soooo perfectly. We live in Brentwood and rode bikes to all the Brentwood/Crestview/Allandale coops and it was brilliant. So cool to see every yard covered in bikes with friendly, happy people running it, opening their homes, and those visiting. Hope you guys do this every year.
The Holts
Holly,
You can check our "2010 Tour Buzz" posting at: http://fccooptour.blogspot.com/2010/04/2010-tour-buzz.html
for additional photos. We have included a slideshow of photos as well as links to other people's photos, when they've provided links.
Hope that helps. Happy Cooping!
Glad you enjoyed yourself, Holts :)
Hope to see you in 2011!
Visited only 3 coops and was very impressed. Can't wait until 2011 tour.
I just found out about this event and I am so bummed I missed it! My dad keeps a blind rooster in his backyard and would have loved this tour. I want to make sure we don't miss it next year...do you have a date yet??
Thanks!
Sorry you missed the tour, but we hope you have a chance to look at the photos and get inspired. We will be looking at a date for 2011 later this year, but it will generally be around the same time of year as this year's was. Hope you can make it out!
I will try to visit it in 2011, you got me very interested :)
