INFORMATION TO HELP YOU ENJOY THE SHOW

Please note: There is no formal meetup at the show, the event is the show itself!

LAYOUT

When you enter the Pavilion, look for the registration desk. That's where you can pay for your entries, if you haven't already mailed it, and buy raffle tickets for the 100+ items. There will be name badges you can use if you like.

You'll find all the Brazos Valley Poultry Club displays along one side of the exhibition hall. The Winter Egg Show, the tables of Raffle items, the Coop Raffle, the Silent Auction items, and the Concession Stand. Along the other side of the exhibition area will be all the breed club displays.

In the center of the exhibition area will be the almost 1600 entries for this 20th annual Bluebonnet Classic Poultry Show. The exhibits will be grouped together according to the show - Open Poultry Show, Junior Show, Backyard Show, Pigeon Show, Gamecock Show. Within those shows the exhibits will be grouped according to size (standard/bantam), Class/Breed/Variety, gender and age.

On the lower level you'll find the sale area. The Pavilion opens at 7am, and the show starts at 9am, so get there early for the best selections in the sale area!

EVENTS

Birds must be cooped in by 9am sharp. Judging then commences. Aisles will be cordoned off where judging is taking place. Please do not interrupt the judges while they are judging. Judges are assisted by clerks who record and assist in whatever manner required. Its very interesting to watch the judges' bird handling as well as the different ways they evaluate each entry. You can view all the open aisles while the judges are in the closed aisles. Then switcheroo when they do too.

Eggs must be on display by 10am sharp. Judging then commences. Shell displays will be cordoned off when judging is taking place. Once shell classes are judged, live judging of Contents Classes will take place. Feel free to step up and view the entries once all judges photos are taken. See if you can tell the difference between the entries in terms of their yolk shape/height/color, freshness of the albumin - find the freshest egg!

When your favorite display is being judged, take a stroll over to the raffle tables, and check out the huge selection of donated items. We are a non profit organization, and your contributions to the show are what makes it happen every year. We could not do it without your support. So please, pick up your raffle tickets, check out all the wonderful items, and then pick up a few more tickets! Do it for the love of chickens!

There will also be a 50/50 raffle, with half of the proceeds going towards the club and the other half of the proceeds going to the WINNER! Be sure to be there when your number is called! Don't Miss It!

We'll also have a coop raffle, donated by A Texas Henhouse. Tickets are $5 each or 6/$20. These are wonderful lightweight coops that are easy for anyone to move. Put them inside your secure enclosure or add secure groundwire at home. The pavilion will be closed after the show, so bring some tie downs to take your winning coop home!!

The silent auction always includes some beautiful breeder pairs and trios donated by club members, as well as other items, like a travel or conditioning cage. Sign up your bid for those beautiful birds, and then stick around for that last moment before the bidding sheets are pulled! You want to be there to outbid the last bidder at the last moment!!

AWARDS

Be sure to stick around for the awards presentations for all the shows of the 2012 Bluebonnet Classic Poultry Show. Ribbons are typically hung/placed on winning entries, and trophies and plaques are presented. There will be trophy and plaque awards at the conclusion of the show for Poultry, Pigeons, and Eggs! Be sure to take lots of photos and share them with us after the event!

There is no admission charge to visit the show and the best times to be there are between 9am and 2 pm on Saturday the 7th. We hope to have the show over by 3 so that everybody can get home.
