Coop Call!! Is a chicken just a chicken or could it be totally fowl?

Poultry is defined as a 'domesticated' bird that is used primarily for eggs, meat, feathers, or a pet, or all of the above. Poultry of any kind are called 'fowl' if found in the wild, and "poultry" if domesticated.

So what kind of poultry do YOU have in your coops? Chickens, quail, turkey, ducks, geese, pigeons, doves, or pheasants are all common poultry. But did you know that emu, indian peafowl, mute swan, ostrich, guinea fowl, and rhea are also poultry? Isn't that wild?? No!! Remember, if it were "wild" it would be totally "fowl".

If you've got coops for different kinds of poultry, we'd love to see how you do it! Fill out your entry form today for the 2012 Austin Funky Chicken Coop Tour. http://fccooptour.blogspot.com/2011/08/2012-coop-host-participant-information.html
