4.6-magnitude earthquake hits South Texas, so head west to Abilene for their 2011 Annual Poultry Show!
Is Abilene the prettiest town you've ever seen? You'll never know unless you go there. And what better weekend than this one! Tomorrow will be the 2011 Annual Poultry Show of the Abilene Poultry Association. Its a country drive and a nice way to spend the day. Don't let the 13' rooster in Sweetwater sidetrack you... the chickens you really want to see will be LIVE in the Taylor County Expo Center's Display Hall in Abilene.
The city of Abilene allows the raising of chickens within city limits, as long as their coops and runs are enclosed. And what better way to protect your chickens, with a full enclosure! If you live in an area that has predators you can't eliminate, the best way to keep your loved ones safe is by enclosing their run. Fully enclosed runs also decrease the disease risk from other birds entering their space. It won't shelter them in an earthquake, but its worth the effort to add another layer of protection!
And yes, there really was an earthquake! And yes, I think animals can sense geologic events sooner than we can!
